MCM Architect: Less is the New More

The Mid-Century Lifestyle was structured on a set of values and ideals - like family, home, femininity, and respect for others. The Mid-Century Modern Woman - or MCM Architect - as I like to call her, embraces these ideals to some extent. She puts family and connection before looks and things. She likes a home-cooked meal that's made of real food. And she is concerned with how her life impacts others and the world around her.

MCM Architects are classic women. They have the style and flair of 1950s women with the power and confidence of this century. They want their wardrobe, their homes, and their lives to exude confidence, poise, and grace. They're ok with embracing a slower lifestyle...one that puts away the TV and cellphone and focuses on experiences and people. To fully embrace a MCM Architect lifestyle, you have to get back to basics and rebuild core values - people over things, health over wealth and embracing a less is more lifestyle.

You might be a Mid-Century Modern Architect if...

...you are confident, poised, gracious, and elegant...99% of the time

MCM Architects typically have a good heart and a polished appearance. They don't let others see them too vulnerable or too out of sorts. From time-to-time a cocktail or their mouth may get them into trouble. But they work very hard to have a natural exterior that's calm, confident, and cool.

...you love hosting a dinner party at home + having a good cocktail

Drinking and being around people may be MCM Architects two favorite things. They love having a social drink with friends on occasion. And even more than that, they love hosting fancy to-do's and dinner parties in their home. They're always having friends over to listen to music, try a new food, or celebrate a life event.

...your inner style icon is Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly

Stripes, jeans, pearls, pea coats, sunglasses, all-black everything - these are the classic pieces your wardrobe carries. You love that vintage fashion is coming back into trend so you don't have spend your weekends perusing thrift stores.

...you have a deep appreciation for local arts and artisans

While you love modern manufacturing and the inexpensive looks it can give, you also love the recent revival of local artists and artisans. You deeply appreciate anyone who can create with their hands - from sewing to woodworking. And you'd love to pick up one of these skill sets yourself one day!

...you have a flair for the dramatic

Just because you're drawn to classic patterns, shapes, and colors, doesn't mean you don't have a flair for the dramatic. You love having statement pieces or "wow" pieces in your wardrobe and home. You aren't afraid to experiment with bold patterns and bright colors. You want your home to excite and inspire others as much as it sets the tone for your evenings in.
