This year I am so excited to be joining my friend Brittany from Our Home Made Easy who is hosting today's Christmas light home tour. You often see my home during the day, but there's something magical about Christmas Lights at Night.

To start off this Christmas Lights Home Tour, I thought it only appropriate to start with where all Christmas decorating usually starts - with a giant ball of Christmas lights that need untangled!

I can still remember how exciting it was as a young girl to pull out all our Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving! Yet, my least favorite memory is the 30 different balls of string lights that would need untangled before my dad could decorate the outside of the house. To this day, I still can't put away a strand of Christmas lights correctly so it won't be tangled the next year when I pull it out!
And to answer your question - Yes! I still decorate with multi-colored lights! It was only this year that we actually bought an artificial tree with white lights. We always had multi-colored lights growing up so that's what Christmas is for me! I've kept our Living Room fairly neutral with white lights and used my multi-colored lights in other areas just for me!

I do love the soft, calming white lights in our living room this year. So the white is growing on me. (Sidenote: our artificial tree has multiple light settings...so when my husband wants white and I want multi-colored, we can both have our way!)
Decorating my home for Christmas has to be one of my favorite Holiday traditions. I love pulling out my Holiday decor and re-discovering the buried treasure that's been hidden in my closet for the past 11 months! It's so special to pull out each item and re-live the memory associated with it. Like when I'm hanging the ornaments on my tree and remembering where I got each one or which ones were given to us as gifts. Or when I pull out the hand-stitched Christmas tablecloth that my grandmother made. Or when I put up the handmade Angel Hymnal that my mother and I bought a few Christmases ago at a Winter Festival. Each memory makes me happy and fills my home with Holiday Cheer!

Another favorite tradition of mine is playing Christmas music during this time of year. I remember as a young girl taking piano lessons, I would be SO excited when my music teacher would finally let us start playing Christmas carols. It was so special! And I still love to pull out my old Christmas books and carols and tinker on the piano now and then!

A more recent tradition that's become special to me is exchanging Christmas Cards with my siblings instead of gifts. As we became adults, got married, and had kids - it became too much to gift everyone something for Christmas. And honestly, there wasn't much we wanted except to spend time together. So, a few years ago we started giving each other Christmas cards instead of gifts. I really love spending a quiet evening by the tree writing a special note to friends or family. It just seems to make life slow down a little.

I'd love to know what your favorite Christmas Tradition or even Christmas Carol is! Tell me in the comments what you love most about this Christmas season!
Thanks for joining me for my Merry & Bright Christmas Lights Home Tour!
