Thinking about giving your home a fresh facelift with some paint? A little color psychology can help you pick the right color for each space in your home so you create a healthy environment.
Color is a language all its own. What you paint your walls isn't just a matter of what you like or dislike. The paint on your walls, the color of your sofa, the hue of your decor is sending subconscious messages to your brain all day, every day. So it's important to understand what message each color is sending and where best to use that color so your mood is impacted for the better.

Let's first break down what message each color sends to our brain:
Yellow - warmth, optimism, clarity
Orange - cheerful, confident, friendly
Red - excitement, bold, youthful
Purple - creative, royal, wise
Blue - dependable, trustworthy, strong
Green - peaceful, growth, health
Gray - balance, calm, neutral
White - innocence, purity, happiness
Black - mystery, tradition, fear
Brown - rugged, earthy, genuine
Now, why are these messages so important? Because these colors can spur us on to action or help us to rest. For example, red is a great color to use in kitchens, dining rooms, and learning areas for kids. Why? It creates energy, enthusiasm, and excitement which encourages conversation and learning. Purple, orange, and yellow are all great colors to use in bedrooms as they evoke positive, confident, creative feelings which help us to relax.

Here's a list of recommended colors to use in each room in your home:
Kitchens - Pale green, Light gray, Orange, Sunny Yellow, Navy Blue
Dining Rooms - Red, Purple, Black, White
