Front Porch Makeover: Before & After

Updated: Mar 29, 2019

Ever since I moved into my 90s Catmom Chic home, I've been trying to prioritize what spaces to work on first - as there are SO MANY to do!  My front porch was brushed aside for some time during the Winter months, but as Summer crept around the corner  I started itching to do a front porch makeover.

This space felt blah, beige, and boring to me.  And I was content to leave it that way for a while since I didn't see it throughout the day.  But since both my husband and I enter and exit through the front door instead of the garage, the front porch started calling to me to update it.

It started with a simple trip to Walmart to buy some hanging baskets and once they were up, I just kept going. Here's a look at the Before of my Front Porch:

I wasn't sure exactly what colors to go with for my Front Porch. Since we rent, I can't do anything about the house color or shutter color. I wanted something that would work with what's existing but still give it a modern twist. And that's when I found these gorgeous rugs from At Home and an idea was formed!

I knew these rugs would work perfectly with some of the existing pieces I had found earlier at my local antique market - like the "LOVE" vintage letters that make a statement when guests come to our front door!

I also made this cute little House Number Sign for just a few bucks!

Tip: It's important to treat your outdoor spaces like indoor spaces.  This makes them feel cozier.  So add rugs, wall art, decor, etc.!  You can always bring it indoors for a season or during bad weather.

Oh, and here's grumpy cat....hahaha!
